Chivas Regal Ultis

SKU 03910

Chivas Regal Ultis is a singular statement in Blended Scotch Whisky. As a blended (or vatted) malt, there is no grain whisky in the mix. That is a first for Chivas Regal. Another unique aspect of this whisky is that Ultis is a 'no age statement' (NAS) whisky, and while not the first or last NAS Chivas, the point is still noteworthy since Chivas is typically known for its high age statement blends. Chivas Ultis is made from five Speyside malts: Allt A’Bhainne, Braeval, Longmorn, Strathisla, and Tormore. This choice of using just the five is a nod to the line of Chivas Master Blenders, of whom there have been only five: Charles Howard, Charles Julian, Allan Baillie, Jimmy Lang and Custodian Master Blender, Colin Scot. The whisky is bottled at the usual 40% ABV.

Whisky AdvocateCaptivating, enticing, and wonderfully charming, this first blended malt from Chivas Regal contains selections of five Speyside malts: Strathisla, Longmorn, Tormore, Allt-a-Bhainne, and Braeval. Red apple, cherry, raspberry fudge, peach and mango fruit salad, dusting of cinnamon, and dry heather sprigs. In essence, it’s rich and satisfying, with dark vanilla, apricot, Bourneville-covered Brazil nuts, and tangerine, smoothed over by caramel and wood spices, maltiness, and gingersnap biscuits. Quite heavenly.

Wine EnthusiastThe aroma of this tawny whisky is distinctly fruit forward, packed with apples, pears and peaches, as well as honey and Sherry notes in the background. The palate reads as relatively dry at first, showing leather, cigar wrapper and oak, plus a fleeting dark-honey note midpalate that rounds out to a crème brûlée sensation. It finishes with clove-spiked warmth and a mouthwatering flash of salinity.
