This is a gorgeous example of Châteauneuf-du-Pape made by 3rd Generation grower Guillaume Gonnet from chalky, clay and pebbly soils. This classic blend of 70% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, 10% Cinsault, is made from 50-90 year old organic vines, and imparts deep, rich, savory cherry, blackberry, garrigue, Christmas cake and peppery spice notes. With supple, round tannins, and just the right amount of acidity, this is a noble, beautiful red. The Gonnet’s suggest pairing this with braised beef, Coq au Vin, charcuterie, pâté, spicy sausage and cheeses, such as Comté and Delice de Bourgogne. 

Third generation grower/winemaker Guillaume Gonnet hails from the Rhône area, farming with organic methods, making pure, soil-rich reds with very little to no oak.  We also positively love his labels, which are designed by his Aussie wife, depicting the local robins which fly around the vineyards and embody all that drives these wines - dreams, liberty and terroir. Gonnet not only grows his grapes with organic methods, he makes his wines with minimal interference and always wishes to showcase the soils in which the vines are planted.
