This high-rye Bourbon is made by the award-winning Breckenridge Distillery of Colorado, located at a nearly 10,000 foot elevation (world’s highest distillery) in the alpine paradise of the Rockies. With this 3 year aged whiskey, Breckenridge is getting creative with cask aging. Having released their first high-rye mash bill bourbon in 2010 to much acclaim, Breckenridge Distillery used port cask-aged single malt Scotches as inspiration and decided to apply the method to a bourbon, a technique only being employed by a few innovative distilleries in the country. In Breckenridge Distillery’s Port Cask Finish Whiskey, the interplay of the fruit and tannins infused into the bourbon from the port barrels creates an alluring complexity among the natural ripe banana, vanilla, brown sugar, and toasted sesame flavors inherent in the spirit itself. Thumbs up from the Bottle Shop...we tasted and loved this!

In 2007, self-professed whisk(e)y nerd Brian Nolt founded Breckenridge distillery in Breckenridge, Colorado. Cashing out his life savings, kids’ college fund, and eventually selling his house to cover monthly payroll and taxes, he and his dedicated team bootstrapped their way through the early years and managed to become a big sucess. Named Distillery of the Year TWICE! 2013 and 2015 at the New York International Spirits Competition, Breckenridge has won countless awards across the globe. Nolt works hard using local ingredients and pays close attention to the details of distilling. He also credits much his success on the unique features of Breckenridge water which he uses for proofing and blending every bottle.
