The Sesta Estate has been in existence in Tuscany for many centuries, with historical documentation dating back to the 1400's. In 1850, two brothers from Castelnuovo dell’Abate, Felice and Giovanni Ciacci became owners of the property. In 1966, the first bottles of Brunello from the Tenuta di Sesta Estate were produced by Giuseppe Ciacci, father of current owner Giovanni Ciacci. At the time, there were only twelve bottlers and, for this reason, the Tenuta di Sesta Estate is recognized as one of the historical estates in the territory of Montalcino. Since 1995 the winery has been managed by Giovanni Ciacci, who has since been joined by his children Andrea and Francesca in the areas of business and agronomic management. For the Ciacci family, traditional aging in big oak barrels and renewed vineyard management based on climatic changes and in favor of the territory constitute the best strategy to obtain wines that best express the territory of Montalcino.

The family's Brunello di Montalcino is made of 100% Sangiovese from a selection of the best grapes of their estate vineyards, matured in 30 hl Slavonian oak barrels for 30 months with subsequent agiing of four months in the bottle. Uniting traditional and modern technology, Brunello has always been a great wine, certainly important and a pleasure to drink. When it is young, it is rich in scents of fruit and flowers. When it has aged, it acquires complex ethereal characteristics and offers a broad bouquet with an aroma of autumn leaves.

Wine AdvocateThe Tenuta di Sesta 2012 Brunello di Montalcino presents evolved aromas of dried fruit, leather, spice and pipe tobacco. The wine opens to a dark garnet color with reddish colors that resemble brick or terra-cotta. These characteristics give the wine a savory and rugged quality that will appeal to those who love the tastes and flavors of aged Sangiovese. Despite the wine's untamed personality, it does offer subdued finesse in the mouth. This wine gives you the typicity of Sangiovese as well as the elegance of an aged Italian classic.

Wine EnthusiastThis opens with tobacco, dark spice, forest floor and leather aromas. The palate offers dried black cherry, licorice and clove flavors, set against tightly wound, taut tannins. It still needs a few years to come together. Drink 2019-2025.
