Domaine Bachey-Legros dates back 6 generations and is under the capable stewardship of Lénaïc and Samuel Legros today. The domaine is located in the beautiful village Santenay-le-Haut and consists of 19 total hectares. The parcels are predominantly in Santenay but include parcels in Maranges and Chassagne. The domaine has also recently secured a long- term vineyard agreements in Meursault and Puligny. The domaine has an amazing amount of old vines, practically all the parcels were planted between 1935 and 1955. As is the norm with old vines they produce very little yield and the berries are very small increasing the skin to juice ratio making it possible to craft extremely concentrated, complex terroir-driven wines.

Lénaïc and Samuel work tirelessly in the vineyards to bring in the best possible fruit and conduct 2 sortings, one in the vineyard and another with a triage table at the winery. The wines here over-perform and are among the best examples of Santenay available. The domaine represent outstanding value and shouldn’t be missed. All fruit is destemmed with a Cuvaison (alcoholic fermentation) period of 15-20 days for reds in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats with daily pigeage (punching down). A combination of new and older neutral barrels are used. No more than 30% new oak for whites and a maximum of 50% for reds. The red wines are racked once after malo-lactic and returned to barrel for another 8-12 months and bottled unfiltered.
