Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Meursault 1er Cru les Genevrières has a rich and much more honeyed bouquet when compared to the Meursault Porusots 2013 that I tasted just prior to this barrel sample. This goes out and makes an immediate impression and at least at this premature juncture comes across as being far more outgoing than its siblings. The palate continues that theme with upfront and quite frankly irresistible citrus and tropical fruit struck through with a killer line of acidity. This is going to be very seductive once bottled. You have been warned.
VinousKnockout nose combines lime, orange peel and minerals. Distinctly tactile, even a bit phenolic, with penetrating acidity giving the citrus and stone flavors terrific cut. The crop level here was just 25 hectoliters per hectare, which Lafon described as typical of the vintage. 92-94
BurghoundA naturally exotic nose is composed of spiced tea, acacia blossom, essence of pear and a hint of red grapefruit. There is really lovely underlying tension to the more mineral-inflected if less concentrated and powerful medium-bodied flavors that possess a refined and ultra-pure mouth feel, all wrapped in a citrusy, persistent and lilting finale. A wine of harmony and grace that should amply reward extended cellaring. 91-94
