Errazuriz Max Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
Don Maximiano Errazuriz founded Viña Errazuriz in 1870 in the Aconcagua Valley, 65 miles north of the capital, Santiago. Recognizing that this valley, with its hot, dry summers and cool Pacific Ocean breezes, was ideal for growing grapes, Don Maximiano sent for the finest clones from France and with tenacity and perseverance transformed this barren land into a world-class vineyard. Today, the tradition of quality lives on with Don Maximiano’s descendant, Eduardo Chadwick. Eduardo is the fifth generation of his family to lead this exceptional estate, and his work has been colossal, bringing Errazuriz into a new era where it is acknowledged as a producer of world-class wines, and opened eyes around the globe as to Chile's incredible and diverse sites.
“Few have done more to promote Chilean wine than Eduardo Chadwick, most notably with his blind comparisons with First Growths. In my opinion, what this estate will produce in the next twenty years will completely surpass the previous twenty years.” Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
Wine AdvocateI also tasted the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Max Reserva one week after it was bottled, but felt very harmonious. Despite being a slightly warmer vintage than 2013, you do not feel any heat here and certainly no sweetness. In fact the palate is bone dry and has some grainy tannins, really pleasant and easy to drink. Very good typicity, value and it should also be readily available, as some 660,000 bottles were produced.
