Cap Royal Bordeaux Supérieur 2015
This is one of the best values in Bordeaux, year in and year out! Cap Royal is made by the folks at Château Pichon Baron, one of the most famous names in Pauillac. And since 2015 is a top vintage in the Bordeaux region, the Cap Royal is better than ever. Named for the oldest lighthouse in Europe, dating back to the 14th century, Cap Royal lives up to its namesake at the mouth of Bordeaux’s Gironde River. A classic Bordeaux, aged in oak, this is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from vineyards in the Médoc. Look for black fruit, wild strawberry and violet aromas with a touch of toasted bread. The mouth is ample and silky with a long finish. Perfect for foods on the grill or with cheeses and pâté.
Jean-René Matignon, the technical director for Château Pichon Baron, oversees the parcel selection, the blending, and the winemaking for Cap Royal. Pichon Baron is an illustrious 2nd growth estate in Pauillac, sought after by wine collectors across the globe. Cap Royal is owned by Compagnie Medocaine des Grands Crus, a fully owned subsidiary of AXA millesime also proprietor of Château Pichon Baron.
