Robert Foley Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Bob Foley began his wine making career in the Napa Valley in 1977, working at a number of highly regarded Napa Valley wineries including Pride Mountain Vineyards, where he spent 15 years as founding winemaker. During this period he also created the highly acclaimed Switchback Ridge, Hourglass, Paloma, School House, and Engel Family wines. He now focuses on Robert Foley Vineyards and Switchback Ridge wines.
This is the first vintage of Robert Foley's Mount Veeder Cabernet. For the past 14 years, Foley has been successfully working with a high elevation Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard on Mt. Veeder, surrounded by bay-laurel forests. He decided to capture its unique essence by bottling it separately to enjoy its intoxicating aroma.
The personality of this Mt. Veeder vineyard receives contributions from its adjacent forests that complement the cherry aromas with a touch of menthol. The full mid-palage is balanced by gentle tannins and mouthwatering acidity, resolving in a long, refined finish. The 2013 is made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, handpicked in October 2013. Fermented for 10 days in French oak barrels, only 100 cases produced.
