Château-La-Conseillante Pomerol 2000
We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.
Superbly situated next to L'Evangile and Vieux Chateau Certan, the wines here are meticulously made and among the best of Pomerol. This 20 acre estate is planted to 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc with extremely old vines averaging 40+ years. Robert Parker says, 'La Conseillante is close in style to a grand cru Burgundy. The wine, which benefits from a sumptuous terroir, is elegant, lush and delicious.' Drink this 2000 from 2008-2030.

Wine AdvocateA tremendous effort, and certainly the best La Conseillante since the marvelous duo of 1989 and 1990, this deep ruby/plum/purple-colored wine offers up notes of blackberries and kirsch liqueur intermixed with licorice, incense, spice box, and copious amounts of toasty oak. It is a relatively powerful effort for La Conseillante, with more tannin and structure than most vintages possess. As the wine sits in the glass, black raspberries, blueberries, smoke along with floral notes emerge. There is tremendous purity, medium to full body, great precision and concentration. Unlike most vintages of La Conseillante, the 2000 will require patience. A bottle kept open refused to oxidize until day six! Anticipated maturity: 2008-2025.
Wine SpectatorPretty, with a perfumy hint to the range of bergamot, blood orange, kirsch and damson plum fruit flavors, which are backed by a graceful, floral-edged finish. Very silky and suave, this expands steadily and dramatically in the glass but still forgoes power for a lacy seduction. This really stands apart from the powerfully ripe general profile of the AOC in '00 but seems likely to last just as long in the hunt as the other top dogs.--Blind 2000 Bordeaux retrospective (December 2015). Drink now through 2028. 5,000 cases made.
