Harry Karis The Chateauneuf-du-Pape Book 750ml

SKU 01641

This is the first serious work ever devoted exclusively to the Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation in France's Rhone Valley. Located in the south of France, the valley is planted to lusty grapes such as Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, in the famously rocky soils of the region. When Chateauneuf-du-Pape became the first French appellation controlee wine in 1936, 13 different grape varieties were authorized. Roughly 72% of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation is planted to Grenache (one of our favorite grape varieties!).
'This is one of the most fascinating and profound wine books I have ever read. Harry Karis has devoted the last four years of his life to exploring, investigating, comprehending and profiling one the world's greatest wines: the sun-drenched Provence appellation called Chateauneuf-du-Pape. A tour de force, his book will be the definitive work on this region for many years to come.' Robert Parker
