At Brewer – Clifton, there is an utmost respect for nature. Steve Clifton and Greg Brewer believe that when working with a product of nature, it is necessary to always maintain an awareness of the elements and phenomena that are beyond their total understanding and control. If at any time that level of sensitivity is lessened, they feel that they risk the unavoidable degradation of the very goals they are trying to pursue. As such, any intervention in the natural evolution of the product must be carried out with the utmost attentiveness and care. They also believe that the geographic, geologic and climatic uniqueness of the Sta. Rita Hills appellation provides an ideal place to grow chardonnay and pinot noir of intensity, complexity and specificity. Within the appellation, each vineyard carries its own imprint. Their mission and passion is to present wines that convey the characteristics inherent to each of these sites, with uncompromising quality.
The 2014 Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills is made of 100% estate Pinot Noir from two vineyards within the AVA. 3-D and Machado all contribute to the wine which exhibits a drive, richness and pedigree expressive of this growing area coupled with the purity of fruit and firm structure which have been the trademark of Brewer – Clifton.
