Located in the north of the Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin includes 26 Premiers Crus and 8 Grands Crus. The Grands Crus are located on an east-facing slope south of the village on deep clay soil with surface limestone, which creates wines that are both powerful and precise. Mazis-Chambertin borders on Chambertin-Clos de Beze in the south, Ruchottes-Chambertin in the west, and Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru vineyards in the north and east. Among the various 'Chambertin' vineyards, it is the one situated closer to the town of Gevrey-Chambertin itself, and the AOC was created in 1937. The grapes for Jadot's Mazis-Chambertin are fermented in vats for three to four weeks, then the wine is matured in French oak barrels for up to a month before bottling.

Wine AdvocateThe 2010 Mazis-Chambertin is strikingly beautiful. There is just one barrel of the Mazis resting in the Jadot cellar, and this is a new barrel, so the aromas and flavors haven't begun to emerge just yet. Still, it is impossible to miss the sheer elegance and finesse of the tannin, as well as the wine's exceptional overall balance. A fine, nuanced finish laced with the sweetest red berries and rose petals leaves the last impression. This is a fabulous showing. Anticipated maturity: 2025-2040.
