The Carillon family domaine dates back to the 16th century. The winemaking tradition has been passed down from father to son since 1632, and possibly since 1520 when a Jehan Carillon is mentioned in archives. The domaine was further extended when Louis married; his wife was from Chassagne-Montrachet. The couple's sons, Jacques and François, continued in the family tradition, with Jacques making the wines and François looking after the vines. In 2009, the brothers decided to separate the domaine. The 2009 vintage was the last under the shared domaine, and 2010 was the first vintage where the wine was made in separate cellars. Francois' wines are known for being silkier than his brother's. The range includes premier crus from Chassagne-Montrachet: Clos St. Jean and Chenevottes, great news for fans of this 'new' domaine.

Wine AdvocateThe 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Village is brighter and more precise than its rich, gourmand Chassagne counterpart, wafting from the glass with aromas of waxy citrus rind, smoke and white flowers. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, pure and racy, with bright acids, elegantly glossy texture and a nicely defined finish. 89-91

BurghoundA more complex and much more floral-inflected nose reveals notes of citrus peel, spice, green apple and a whiff of oak toast. The denser if still quite seductively textured middle weight flavors possess an abundance of sappy dry extract that coats the palate on the lingering and equally complex finale. This isn't as elegant as it usually is but even so it offers fine quality for a villages level wine. 89-91
