All American Tasting :: Memorial Day Weekend

We are going to kick-off the Summer of 2017 with an All American Wine Tasting to commemorate Memorial Day and honor our veterans. We will feature wines from Washington State, an area of particular interest for us, since we believe that this part of our great country is on the verge of more popularity on the wine scene. For more than 25 years, Washington State has been crafting small batches of highly acclaimed wines, but many of those were in higher end price points, making their notoriety limited. On the opposite spectrum, the state had a couple of very large wine company producing 'volume' wines at bargain prices, but the East Coast consumer was not being offered something 'in between', well-made and utterly delicious. That is all changing in our eyes! Over the last year, we have increased our selection of wines from Washington State, and have found many more interesting, complex, charming wines that are also great values. So on May 27, we will taste a rockin' Rosé from Charles Smith, which is made of 100% Sangiovese in a dry, aromatic, low alcohol style that we fell in love with early on in the season. For a velvety red, we will pour Canoe Ridge Expedition Cabernet, something that gives Cali Cabs for $20-25 a run-for-the-money with its modest $16.99 pricetag. And we are cooking up a 'bonus' to taste, which will be TBD...stay tuned!
