For as many years and generations that we have been in the wine business, we continue to discover new wines that we positively fall in love with. Domaine Jean Féry is the perfect example. We are lifelong Burgundy aficionados, for both whites & reds, so when our longtime friend, Burgundy expert exporter Jeanne-Marie Deschamps brought the Féry wines to our attention with their 100th year anniversary of 2022 vintage wines, and told us it was their best vintage to date, we were wildly intrigued.
After tasting the full line-up, we understood why. We love these wines and are so excited to welcome the family's Global Wine Ambassador, Thibault Petiet who we met, and bonded with, at a French event in NYC earlier this year. The wines we will taste are yet to be determined, but do come in and pick up the wines we have now, as you will surely enjoy them!
The Féry family has been rooted in Burgundy’s soils since at least the 18th century, but the estate as we know it today is the vision of Jean-Louis Féry. When he took over his parents’ vineyards in the late 1980s, he brought with him both a childhood dream and a determination to elevate the domaine. Bit by bit—investing in new vineyards, infrastructure, and an unwavering philosophy—he has built one of Burgundy’s most compelling boutique estates.
Jean-Louis’ approach is firmly biodynamic, guided by preparations of natural minerals and herbs and timed by the rhythms of the biodynamic calendar (which is fully organic as well). In 2008, the estate officially entered conversion to organic farming—an outward marker of a philosophy that had long been taking shape in the vines. For those who love artisanal Burgundy winemakers, this combination of deep tradition and thoughtful viticulture is precisely what makes the domaine such a discovery. Despite the remarkable quality, the wines remain largely under the radar outside the region—a dream scenario for Burgundy hunters looking for hidden gems.
