This very special Nero d'Avola is made from Santa Tresa's oldest vines, more than 50 years in age. Quantities are strictly limited, with a maximum of only about 300 cases being produced a year. Avulisi has a deep bouquet of wild berries, blackcurrants and spices. The blackcurranty fruit continues on the palate, which is rich, ripe, intense and very, very long. Avulisi’s rich, robust character complements hearty, wintery dishes such as game stews, or richly flavored barbequed red meats. In Sicily there are lots of wild boar roaming the island, and the family's favorite dish with Avulisi is roasted wild boar with sage & honey.
Terredora Di Paolo is a story of a family that is closely linked to Campania, its land, its history and its people for many generations. The Mastroberardino family is the most famous wine family and part of the family created Terredora di Paolo in 1978. This unoaked Falaghina white of Irpinia has a rich and intense aroma of fruits with apple, pineapple, quince and pear. Fresh and clean in the mouth with good acidity and structure, it pairs well with fish, soups, cheeses and white meat dishes with lemon and herb accents in particular.
'Strev' Moscato is a super high quality Moscato d'Asti from the Marenco family. The Strevi hills in Piedmont have been known for cultivating the finest Moscato 'forever' as Andrea Marenco told us when he and his mother Michela visited the Bottle Shop in early 2015. The Strevi hills are located in the eastern part of the Asti DOCG appellation. These estate-bottled, family-made wines are such a high quality at very fair prices. Founded in 1896, the estate bought many acres of high quality vineyards under the leadership of Giuseppe Marenco in the 1950's. His three daughters have taken over all aspects of the winery and vineyards, including Patrizia as enologist. Michela told us she loves working with her sisters Doretta and Patrizia, and that they are always making the best wines they can make.
