Meet Andrea Sottimano from Piedmont

It is always such a pleasure to see winemaker Andrea Sottimano and taste through his beautiful Piemontese wines. His 2015's and 2016's are such revelations from the region, we are so impressed that his wines just keep getting better and better. We will taste his 2016 Nebbiolo Langhe, a single-vineyard bottling from the Basarin cru; a historic and very prestigious vineyard located on the border between Neive and Treiso. The vineyard’s high altitude brings great complexity and considerable structure to its wines, along with notes of spice and hints of licorice. As with all his wines, Andrea uses French barrels coopered expressively for him by Francois Frères in Burgundy to age his wines, he ferments with natural, indigenous yeasts and farms organically.  We will also taste one of our all-time best selling Italian reds : 2015 Barbera 'Pairolero', a blend of two vineyards of Barbera in Neive; Curra' and Basarin. Our two showstoppers will be 2015 Barbaresco 'Pajore' and 2013 Barbaresco 'Cottà'; both 100% Nebbiolo, from incredibly old vines range from 50-70 years.
