Meet Winemaker Paul Zinetti of Comte Armand

To say we are excited about welcoming the winemaker from Comte Armand is an extraordinary understatement. This historic domaine, located in the Pommard region, embodies everything we absolutely love about Burgundy. The premier cru Clos des Epeneaux vineyard in Pommard has been well-known since the end of the 18th century, and is a monopole for Armand, since they are the sole owner of the vineyard. Comte Armand also acquired high quality plots in Volnay and Auxey-Duresses over the centuries, developing a highly regarded selection of distinct terroirs to produce the highest quality of Burgundy wine. Today their vines average 50 years in age, the vineyards are certified organic (ecocert) and farmed with biodynamic principles. Once the grapes are handpicked, they are 100% de-stemmed then the whole grapes are fermented, and aging is done modestly with only 20-30% new oak. These wines are so pure, layered with fruit and soil flavors, and are beyond delicious.

2014 was the first vintage vinified by the young and talented Paul Zinetti. After 4 years of working with the incumbent winemaker Benjamin Leroux, Paul Zinetti developed the foundation to continue to produce top level wines for the historic Armand estate. 2015 brought a top level vintage for Paul, with Burgundy aficionados like ourselves clamoring for Armand wines. The wines to be poured at this VIP event will include Aligôté Blanc, Volnay, Auxey-Duresses and Pommard Clos des Epeneaux. Hope to see you there!
