This is a cool email this morning, featuring the Languedoc (LAHNG-eh-DOCK), whose neighbors include the Rhône Valley, Provence and the South West regions of France. In Languedoc it's all about the blends. Vineyards are planted like patchworks with grape varieties from both the Rhône and Bordeaux, happily living together to create rich, full-bodied, fruit-driven red wines. Our first producer is super famous in the northern Rhône, known for his iconic Syrah-based reds : Chapoutier was committed to organic/biodynamic farming long, long before 'natural wine' was trendy. He bought an ancient, old vine estate in Côtes du Roussillon, and produces dynamite values for savvy bargain hunters. We have 2 wines from his Bila-Haut estate today. And then from Limoux, we are offering a Rothschild wine that will remind you of a cross between a Pomerol and a Saint-Estephe. The vineyards at Baron'Arques have produced wine since at least the 17th century. And on a side note, once we can travel again to Europe (which cannot come soon enough!), the Languedoc is known for its picturesque French-Roman villages, camping, the Pyrenees mountains and epic winding driving roads, in addition to its great food & wine.

Cheers! the Murray family

RATED 95 JEB DUNNUCK : 'Deep ruby-colored, the 2016 Occultum checks in as a blend of 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 5% each of Carignan and Mourvèdre. It's one of the finest vintages to date for the cuvée and offers fabulous blackberry, currants, crushed rocks, and violets. Domaine de Baron'Arques Limoux Rouge 2015

RATED 91 WINE ADVOCATE : 'Smelling like a classy Right Bank Bordeaux, the 2015 Grand Vin is a blend of 57% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 13% Syrah, 11% Malbec and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. Cigar box and cassis notes lead the way, followed by hints of pencil shavings, charred barrel and dark chocolate. It's medium to full-bodied, with a fine, long and slightly dusty finish that suggests around a decade of ageability.'
