Here we go!!! Round 2 of meaningful Pomerols with 'insider' pricing. We have been Château Rouget fans since our youth. Our dad took both of us there at different times, and over the years, Rouget has remained a steadfast, classic example in the POMEROL region with a velvety, structured, full-bodied style. Since the end of the Roman Empire, the vineyard at Rouget has grown grapes, and at the end of the 19th century, a classification of Pomerol wines placed Rouget among the Top Five Estates of the Appellation. The Labruyère Family has owned Rouget since 1992, and has continued to make an iconic wine.

The soils at Rouget are gravel-based, mixed with clay and sand. Planted to 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, the average age of the vines is 40 years. Vineyards are farmed sustainably, grapes are picked by hand, harvest occurs in several steps, bunches are sorted as soon as they arrive in the cellar. Then, once the grapes are fully destemmed, they go through another double sorting table. All of these methods result in wines of the utmost finesse and elegance.

Full-bodied, chewy and intense with a focused tannin backbone and intensity. Loads going on here. Finishes strong. This could be the best wine ever from here.' 'The 2016 Rouget is a voluptuous Pomerol with all the elements in the right place. Sweet tobacco, herb, anise and leather add lovely aromatic top notes.
