Historic 2008 Allary Haut-Brion

The illustrious red wines of Graves (Pessac-Leognan), in Bordeaux, France, were sent to America as early as the late 1700's. Today we are offering a tiny jewel of the region, from a 1.5-hectare parcel of vines situated within the vineyard of famous 1st Growth Chateau Haut-Brion. Domaine Allary Haut-Brion 2008 is a blend of 60% Cabernet Franc & 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, crafted by celebrated Bordeaux winemaker, Stéphane Derenoncourt. The Allary family insisted upon natural, organic and biodynamic methods in their historic parcel, working the gravel and sandy clay vineyard by hand or using horses. The resulting wine is powerful yet elegant, aromatic & polished, soulful & ethereal. A rare value if you consider that bottles of Chateau Haut Brion from 2007-2015 are selling for $499-$1299, this is even more intriguing... Happy Black Friday!

RATED 94 BOTTLESHOP.COM : 'Made of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 60% Cabernet Franc and aged in 100% new oak, this rich yet ethereal 2008 opens with an alluring perfume of flowers, spices, blackberries, minerals and toasted nuts. Polished, pure and round in the mouth, the balance is exceptional here. On the finish, cherry blossoms, black cherries, licorice and subtle smoky oak notes mingle and linger…'

ROBERT PARKER REPORTS : 'This is a tiny jewel of a vineyard (just over three acres) right in the heart of the historic Haut Brion vineyard. Not surprisingly, the wine is stunning. This beauty has the character of its surroundings.'
