PASSION FOR PINOT !!!
Dominique Gruhier's Organic Pinot Noirs
No Added Sulfites + Bonus Chardonnay!!!

Today's email offer is an unequivocal passion play by long-time Burgundy lovers (us), with wines made by one of the most genuine, nicest growers we have ever met (Dominique Gruhier). There are no reviews for these wines, they are not made in famous villages, and there is no instagram account to follow... but a few years ago we tasted Dominique's wines for the first time and were so impressed by their purity, minerality, freshness and sheer tastiness that we were thrilled when we met him this past February. Gruhier grew up only a mile away from his 804-year-old estate where he took the reins in 1990. He makes mostly Pinot Noir with a little Chardonnay in tiny lots of 200-600 cases from each vineyard; he has been certified organic since 2015; he does not add any sulfites to the reds; and he showcases the new, up-and-coming appellation of Epineuil, located just northeast of Chablis. In Burgundy it is all about the soil and in his village, this means Kimmeridgian soils, with its ancient layers of limestone, minerals and clay. We had such a phenomenal reaction by our local clients to Dominique's Cuvee Juliette below, that we brought in two more of his reds, offered today at intro prices; plus we have his crispy, steely Bourgogne Chardonnay on sale below which tastes like a good Chablis at a fraction of the price. If you love Pinot, Burgundy, Chablisienne Chardonnay and wines that will never give you a headache, jump on this offer and mix a case immediately!

Cheers! the Murray family

Domaine Dominique Gruhier Cote de Grisey Bourgogne Epineuil 2015

The small Pinot Noir vineyard of Grisey has a steep slope up to 45% for excellent draining, shallow Kimmeridgian argilo-calcaire soil, facing south, east, and southeast. Dominique Gruhier vinifies this wine with 30% whole cluster in a pneumatic press and aged for 15 months in older barrels. This is fine, juicy and vivacious, with violets, red berries and salinity on the palate. Excellent value.

Domaine Dominique Gruhier Bourgogne Epineuil Cuvée Juliette 2015

bot 92

We tasted and positively adored this Cuvée Juliette, made from 50% whole cluster, 15 months in oak, only 10% new and no added sulfites. It’s ripe, velvety, delicious, and has oodles of violets, lavender, red berries…this is classic Burgundian Pinot Noir from a lesser-known AOC, and very worth seeking out. Dominique only makes about 600 cases of Juliette each year from his oldest vines.

Domaine Dominique Gruhier Bourgogne Blanc 2016

For Epineuil whites,  the wines are labelled either as a simple Bourgogne like this one (Bourgogne Tonnerre), the regional AOC for whites made of 100% Chardonnay, or from specific villages: Epineuil, Dannemoine, Junay, Molosmes, Tonnerre and Vézinnes. The AOC was created in 2006, prior to that the whites were also part of the Bourgogne Epineuil AOC. We tasted and positively adored this Bourgogne Blanc, made only a stone's throw from Chablis. Fresh, clean, crisp and juicy, the minerals from the soils mingle perfectly with citrus, apricot, flowers and hints of vanilla.
