Super Rare Library Wines ~ Ready-to-Drink!!

1996 Ducru / 2000 Calon Segur / 2000 Leoville Barton and more... All ON SALE at Low Prices!!!!!

After an amazing event this past Friday night with Chateau Pape Clement, we want to create a true frenzy to kick off the first official week of Bordeaux Month 2019, and today's email is the most exciting way to do just that! In addition to our huge inventory here on the premises (in our cellar - floor to ceiling!, in our wine room - looking for First Growths??, and on the floor - on racks and stacks), we also store wines off-site, cellaring them for future release for when they are ready to drink. The wines below have been curated by our in-house Bordeaux expert, and kept in pristine condition @ 55 degrees since release. They are extremely rare to find in a wine shop or at auction. All of the wines below have entered their drinking frame but most of these still have more time to cellar through 2030-2050. Take a look, and if you have any questions or are ready to put an order together, please call and ask to be patched through to Thomas Murray or Cynthia Murray. Many of these will sell out so please order early.

The Bottle Shop boasts New Jersey's Largest Classified Bordeaux Inventory In Stock!

Most of the following wines are available in original wood 12 bottles cases!

Cheers! the Murray family

Château-Calon-Ségur Saint Estèphe 2000

wa 94 ws 93 we 93

RATED 94 ROBERT PARKER : 'The 2000 Calon-Segur rivals the estate's finest wines of the last two decades, the 1995, 1988, and 1982. This blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc exhibits a plum/purple color along with gorgeous aromas of creosote intermixed with spring flowers, black cherries, cassis, licorice, and stony, liquid minerals. A powerful, tannic, full-bodied and opulent wine, it possesses considerable structure that is reasonably well-concealed by considerable glycerin and intensity. Look for it to be at its best between 2012-2040.'  The late Marquis de Ségur was fond of saying "I make my wine at Lafite and Latour but my heart is in Calon" - inspiring heart motifs all around Calon-Ségur - on walls, fireplaces and on the label...

Chateau Leoville Barton Saint Julien 2000

ws 96 we 96 wa 95+ st 94

RATED 96 WINE SPECTATOR : 'Hello. Take textbook St.-Julien warmed fig, blueberry compote and blackberry reduction notes along with ample graphite, bramble and tobacco flavors, then dial it up a notch. This has terrific energy to offset the admirable depth and length, and hasn't even started a second phase yet. One of the stars of the vintage. Best from 2018 through 2033.'

Château-Ducru-Beaucaillou Saint Julien 1996

wa 96 ws 92

RATED 96 ROBERT PARKER : 'The 1996 is long, with a deep mid-palate. It is muscular, concentrated, and classic. It exhibits a saturated ruby/purple color, as well as a knock-out nose of minerals, licorice, cassis, and an unmistakable lead pencil smell that I often associate with top vintages of Lafite-Rothschild. It is sweet and full-bodied, yet unbelievably rich with no sense of heaviness or flabbiness. The wine possesses high tannin, but it is extremely ripe, and the sweetness of the black currant, spice-tinged Cabernet Sauvignon fruit is pronounced. This profound Ducru-Beaucaillou is a must purchase. It will be fascinating for readers who own the 1996 to follow the evolution of this exceptional vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2035.'

Château-Ducru-Beaucaillou Saint Julien 2000

wa 95 ws 94

RATED 95 ROBERT PARKER : 'A stunning wine from Ducru Beaucaillou which showcases its great terroir, this elegant but substantial 2000 has a dense purple color. Displaying a floral note, with hints of boysenberries, black raspberries, black currants and a touch of background oak, the wine has superb concentration and density, but still has some substantial tannins that are not yet fully resolved. Drink 2015-2035.' Planted to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot, Ducru Beaucaillou is one of the oldest Bordeaux estates in the Medoc dating back to the beginning of the 13th century.

Château-La-Conseillante Pomerol 2000

wa 96 ws 95

RATED 96 ROBERT PARKER : 'A tremendous effort, and certainly the best La Conseillante since the marvelous duo of 1989 and 1990, this deep ruby/plum/purple-colored wine offers up notes of blackberries and kirsch liqueur intermixed with licorice, incense, spice box, and copious amounts of toasty oak. A relatively powerful effort for La Conseillante, as the wine sits in the glass, black raspberries, blueberries, smoke along with floral notes emerge. There is tremendous purity, medium to full body, great precision and concentration. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2025.' Superbly situated next to L'Evangile and Vieux Chateau Certan, the wines here are meticulously made and among the best of Pomerol. This 20 acre estate is planted to 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc with extremely old vines averaging 40+ years.

Chateau Montrose St. Estephe 1998

wa 90

RATED 90 ROBERT PARKER : 'A classic effort, the 1998 Montrose exhibits a a sweet nose of jammy cassis, licorice, earth, and smoke. It is a powerful and full-bodied wine with well-integrated tannin. Given Montrose's tendency to shut down, it is performing better out of bottle than I expected. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2030.' The traditional Montrose estate has been called the 'Latour of Saint-Estèphe' and is considered by many collectors and critics to be producing First-Growth quality, even though the 1855 classification designated it as a 2nd Growth. Planted to 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, Montrose has extremely old vines, many over 50+ years old, and produces a very rich, very complex and ageworthy wine. Lots of power and body here year in and year out.

Chateau Cos d'Estournel St. Estephe 2001

ws 94 wa 94

RATED 94 WINE ADVOCATE : 'The 2001 Cos d'Estournel is blended of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot. The nose is singing with savory notes of smoked meats, tapenade, bay leaves and beef drippings with a core of plum preserves, redcurrant jelly, dried cherries and baked blackcurrants with wafts of peppermint tea and dried roses. Medium-bodied, the palate practically tingles with vibrant dried herbs, red fruit preserves and minty notes, structured with firm, finely grained tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing very long and minerally. Drink 2018 - 2033.' This famous Second Growth has old vines averaging 40+ years. This château sits on a ridge immediately north of the Pauillac border, looking down on its neighbor, Lafite Rothschild. The unusually high percentage of Merlot (by Haut-Médoc standards) accounts for the fleshy, supple and rich texture of the wine.
