***VIP BORDEAUX EVENT***
featuring the Illustrious
CHATEAU PAPE CLEMENT
Friday March 1st from 4-6 pm

The Bottle Shop of Spring Lake has officially announced March 2019 as 'Bordeaux Month'. This spectacular event will include 31 days of sale prices nationwide, local consumer wine tastings every weekend, and 300+ Bordeaux wines on offer from across the entire region. Bordeaux continues to be the #1 wine in the world for collectors but also offers great value at all price ranges. To kick off 'Bordeaux Month' in style, we welcome Daley Brennan, the USA Brand Ambassador for Château Pape Clément in Pessac-Léognan. One of the most illustrious estates in history, Pape Clément was purchased in 1299 by Bertrand de Goth, who went on to become Pope Clement V; the Church remained the vineyard's loyal steward until the French Revolution. In modern times, this classified growth rivals the best in Graves competing against most of the 2nd Growths and is the centerpiece of the Bernard Magrez stable. We will taste two vintages of Pape Clément, 2014 and 2015, along with 2015's from Saint Emilion and the Médoc.

Cheers! the Murray family

RATED 96 JAMES SUCKLING : 'Intense blackberry, blueberry and violet aromas. Sweet tobacco. Full-bodied and layered with polished tannins. Very long and beautiful.' 'The 2014 Pape Clment is strikingly beautiful. Dark, sumptuous and creamy, it exudes class. Black cherry, mocha, spice, espresso, menthol and new leather are all pushed forward in a spherical, rich wine that captivates all the senses. As always, this is an overt style, but the purity of the fruit comes through nicely now that the oak has started to integrate. Plenty of the Magrez trademark richness, in a slightly more restrained style than in the past. A gorgeous wine by any measure.' Antonio Galloni

RATED 99 JAMES SUCKLING : 'The clarity to this wine is impressive. Wealth of dark-plum and black-fruit essence not to mention orange citrus. Such impressive depth and suave, ripe, fluid tannins that deliver impressive length. Great wine. Such polish. Superb.' 'The 2015 Pape Clement is blended of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, matured in 80% new and 20% one-year-old French oak barrels for 18 months. It opens with profound notes of crushed red and black currants, black cherries and cassis with touches of mocha, baking spices, menthol and lavender plus a hint of new leather.' Wine Advocate

RATED 95 WINE ENTHUSIAST : 'Chocolate and ripe berry flavors give the wine a full, opulent character. It has some rich, sweet tannins that fill out the bountiful fruits. The wine is in a style that takes full advantage of the quality of the vintage.' Château Fombrauge is one of the oldest wine estates in Saint Emilion, dating back to 1679, and vines were cultivated on the site as early as 1599. The modern age for Château Fombrauge starts in 1999, the year that Bernard Magrez purchased Fombrauge. Magrez also owns the illustrious Château Pape Clement in Graves.

Château les Grands Chênes Médoc 2015

RATED 92 WINE ENTHUSIAST : 'This is the northernmost of the properties owned by major Bordeaux personality, Bernard Magrez. It shares the same richness as many of the wines produced under his name while also having a light touch of acidity and black-currant crispness.' 'The 2015 Les Grands Chênes offers arguably the best value pound for pound of any of the wines in Bernard Magrez's stable. Black cherry, plum, smoke, licorice and dark spices abound. Virile and imposing, the 2015 is a big, intense wine with considerable personality. The tannins need to be polished a bit, but there is plenty to like. This is a strong effort for the year. The blend is 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Sauvignon.' Antonio Galloni   Château Les Grands Chênes, located in the Médoc appellation of Bordeaux, has been producing wine since 1880, and was originally used as a fort during the 16th century.

BONUS! 3 LITER OF ROBERT PARKER 100 PT. PAPE CLEMENT 2010 : 'I certainly underrated the 2010 Pape Clement from barrel, rating it only 93-95+. (Thank God I put a "plus" there!) Having tasted it four times in Bordeaux, and rating it perfect three times and 99 the fourth time, this final blend of 51% Merlot, 47.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1.5% Petit Verdot is perfection in a bottle. Its sublime elegance, the power, the medium to full-bodied texture, the silky tannins, the subtle notes of smoke, lead pencil shavings, black currants, charcoal, camphor, blueberry and cassis fruit are all remarkable. It is a rich, full-throttle wine, but the elegance and the great terroir of Pape Clement come through in abundance. This wine will last 30-40+ years.'
