| Made from very old vines, up to 65 years in age, this Primitivo has an intense, spicy bouquet with notes of cherry and plum. Full-bodied in the mouth with a velvety warmth and gentle tannins. We tasted this with Paolo Cantele when he visitied us at the Bottle Shop and told us that Cantele adds even less sulfites than allowed by the legal organic limit. This is an extraordinary value for a very high quality red wine.

RATED 91 WINE ENTHUSIAST : 'Made from equal parts Grenache and Syrah, this full-bodied wine offers loads of plummy, ripe cherry and berry flavors offset by an invigorating edge of black pepper and brisk acidity. It's luscious and juicy but firmly structured by taut, persistent tannins. Although it drinks well now it should improve through 2020 and hold further.' |

| 50% OFF :: GRAND CRU RED BURGUNDY :: The Mongeard family arrived in Vosne-Romanée in the 18th century, and records show a Mongeard working as vigneron for Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in 1786. Robert Parker describes the wines of the domaine: 'The style of winemaking seems to extract rich, supple, concentrated fruit from the grapes...The wines always seem to show well young, but also age nicely for 10-15 years.' Their vineyards are 45-50 years old on average, and are grafted with superior Pinot Noir clones. The Echezeaux is 100% de-stemmed from the climats of Echézeaux du Dessus and Les Treux and aged in 75% new oak. |
