VIP BRUNELLO EVENT
Friday Sept 6th 4 - 6 pm
Featuring Award Winning Caparzo Estate

What a way to kick off 'Locals Summer' with a VIP wine tasting featuring one of the greatest wine regions in the world!!! Montalcino in Tuscany, Italy is home to noble and collectible Brunello di Montalcino wines, and Caparzo is one of the most respected estates in the region. Owned by Elizabetta Gnudi Angelini, a true tour de force, Caparzo has gone from strength to strength since the 1960's...

At this amazing event we welcome Mirco Biliorsi, Caparzo's export director, a Montalcino native who will take us on a trip to Tuscany by tasting a lineup of Caparzo wines that will include the estate's standard bearer Brunello di Montalcino 2018; the double 95-pointer Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from the outstanding 2016 vintage; a bright, effusive Rosso di Montalcino 2022; and to kick things off, a highly limited, fresh Tuscan 2023 Chardonnay. Incidentally, a similar line-up of Caparzo wines at a renowned restaurant in Philadelphia fetched $395 per person for a wine dinner. We will serve fresh and fabulous European cheeses and charcuterie from our renowned Food Market to match these beautiful wines. Ours is a Complimentary Bottle Shop Tasting.

Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino 2018 750ml

wa 92 v 92 jd 90 ws 90

RATED 92 WINE ADVOCATE AND VINOUS : 'Black cherries, crushed rocks and dried flowers create a classically inviting bouquet as the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino opens in the glass. It's soft-textured with racy acidity that propels its ripe red fruits across the palate, as chalky minerals and sweet spices mingle toward the close. This finishes potent and long with a staining of fine tannins while maintaining a lovely freshness.' Best from 2024 through 2038.

Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2016 750ml

ws 97 wa 95 v 93 we 92

RATED 97 WINE SPECTATOR : 'Complex and already drinking well now, this red features cherry, plum, leather, iron and wild herb flavors. The vibrant acidity keeps this resonant and tangy, while an inherent spiciness lends distinction and allure. Shows fine balance and a lingering, savory aftertaste. Lots of pretty intensity, nicely balanced fruit, blackberry, spice, cedarwood and campfire ash. A delicately perfumed wine that offers more power and length than you might initially anticipate. That's the secret soul of the 2016 vintage - elegance and brawn wrapped tightly together in one package.' Drink now - 2038.

RATED 90 JAMES SUCKLING : 'A sleek chardonnay with notes of apples, white peaches, white blossoms and crushed stones. Medium-bodied, smooth, refreshing and easy to drink.' Caparzo owner Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini created this new Chardonnay IGT in 2013. It is produced with grapes coming from three estates she owns in Tuscany : Caparzo, Borgo Scopeto, and Doga delle Clavule.
