Bouchard Père & Fils Chambolle Musigny 2005

BN#208423 |
One of our favorite Burgundy appellations : Chambolle-Musigny. The wines tend to exhibit such beautiful aromas, pure raspberry flavors and supple, round tannins. The original name of the town was Chambolle, but in the spirit of how Gevrey changed its name to Gevrey-Chambertin in 1847 (by appealing to the King and attaching the name of its famous Grand Cru to its own as an early marketing tool), Chambolle followed suit and became Chambolle-Musigny. The Grand Cru Le Musigny vineyard is most famously described as "the queen of all Burgundy" and "an iron fist in a velvet glove".
In this well-built 2005 offering from famed producer Bouchard, look for dark berry fruit, minerals and a touch of saltiness. The tannins are supple and refined, and the finish is quite long. Drink this Pinot Noir from 2010 - 2015+.
Burghound raves : "the Bouchard '05s are flat out stupendous wines and absolutely deserve a place in your cellars."
