Bastianich Friulano 2007

BN#241344 |
Made by superstar restauranteur, Joseph Bastianich, co-owner of Babbo, Lupa, Esca and Otto, and his famous mom Lidia, we tasted this outstanding dry white and found green pear, flowers, peaches and minerals in the nose and mouth, with a mouthfeel rounder than Sauvignon Blanc and fuller than Pinot Grigio. It is dry, fresh and crisp; great with cold antipasto and seafood.
This wine was formerly called Tocai Friulano, but an international dispute with Hungary and Italy over the right to use the name 'Tocai' prevents the Italians from continuing to use this grape name. The Hungarians felt that there was too much confusion with their own wine : Tokaj, from the region of Tokaji, where they produce sweet wines.
