Antinori
The Antinori family has been in the wine business since Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Florentine Guild of Vintners in 1385 -- more than 26 generations ago. Throughout the company's long history it has remained family owned and operated, and today it is directed by Marchese Piero Antinori. Though Antinori has played an important role in preserving Italy's enological traditions it is also one of Italy's most dynamic and visionary producers of fine wines, with estates concentrated in the best viticultural areas of Tuscany and Umbria.
Made of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Franc in the 2006 vintage, Solaia is one of Antinori's crowning jewels. Solaia is a south west facing vineyard of about 10 hectares at 350 meters on rocky limestone land near the Tignanello estate. Marchesi Antinori produced this wine for ... more

Antinori’s 2007 Tignanello is wonderfully ripe and seductive in its dark cherries, flowers, spices, tobacco, sage, cedar, mint and minerals. This is as opulent a Tignanello as I have ever tasted but there is just enough acidity and structure from the Sangiovese to keep things from going over the top. ... more

Only made in the best vintages, Tignanello is made exclusively from the vineyard of the same name which is situated on limestone and tufaceous soil on the Tignanello estate. Made of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 5% Syrah, this was aged in oak for 12 months, and then in bottle for eight. It is smooth, supple and elegant to drink. Always a crowd pleaser, the Antinori family is one of the oldest winemaking families (dynasties!) in ... more

Santa Cristina was originally introduced in 1946 as a Chianti Classico by Piero Antinori's father, Niccolò. But with the passage of the 1984 DOCG laws - spearheaded by Piero Antinori- requiring lower vineyard yields, Chianti Classico grapes became so complex and rich that they required more aging than this soft, ... more
BN#420642
Made of 90% Sangiovese with 10% Merlot and Syrah, Pèppoli Chianti Classico is made at Pèppoli estate which is situated 5 km north-east of Tignanello. The soil is stony and rich in minerals, perfect for growing fruity, lively Sangiovese. Antinori purchased the estate in 1985, the year that marked the ... more

The ancient Antinori family is one of the oldest and most respected wine families in the world. The Antinori clan has lived in Florence since the early 13th century when they moved there from Calenzano, a small town between Florence and Prato. The merchant family was registered with the Guild ... more
BN#430370
The Antinori family is one of the oldest winemaking families in the world with over 600 years of experience. This white is from Umbria where the ancient Popes of Italy would summer and pair Orvieto Classico with seafood crudi. Look for Meyer lemon, ripe yellow grapefruit and hints of herbs ... more
