Dark in color, showing fabulous aromas of crushed blackberry and raspberry, with a hint of honeysuckle. Full-bodied, with layers of polished, velvety tannins and bright acidity and fruit. Very long and concentrated, yet refined and caressing. Superb. The best wine to date from this producer. Best after 2010.

The 2005 Gagliole is a soft-textured, fruit-driven wine loaded with character. This blend of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon flows from the glass with sensual layers of smoke, leather, spices, plums and cherries all supported by a lively vein of minerality that provides freshness. Drink this stylish, engaging red over the next decade. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019.
