Woodward Canyon Artist Series #13 Cabernet Sauvignon 2004
Art and the study of nature have been dual passions for artist Todd Telander since his childhood in rural Northern California. He began to seriously focus on art and illustration as a career while attending the University of California at Santa Cruz. While earning degrees in Environmental Studies and Biology, he completed a graduate-level program in scientific illustration, and immediately began work as a freelance artist on a national and international level. He has since studied fine art independently and was awarded an artists residency at Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. For the past 15 years he has made his living as a freelance scientific illustrator and wildlife artist. His art is featured on the label of this 2004 Woodward Canyon Cabernet.
Wine Advocate
The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon – Artist Series also contains 1% Cabernet Franc. and is a blend from five of the top vineyards in the state. It was aged predominantly in new French oak for 20 months. The wine is opaque purple-colored with a fragrant bouquet of pain grille, spice box, black cherry and black currants. It is full-bodied with a supple palate-feel, oodles of sweet fruit, and ripe tannins. This impressive effort manages to combine power and elegance. It will benefit from 3-5 years of cellaring and drink well through 2030.

Wine Enthusiast
This Bordeaux blend has a surprisingly broad aspect, with very young fruit that opens up and then sits on the midpalate. It’s much more open and expressive than the last few vintages. At first it seems dumbed down on the finish, but it slowly opens, and retasted on the second day it has filled out with muscle and verve.
