This historic estate in the Rheingau produces classic German Riesling. We love this Kabinett which is aromatic, clean and delicious with notes of apricot, slate, petrol and spiced citrus. On a personal note, when we were kids, my dad got us a German Shepard as our first dog and named him... Vollrads ... after this great estate. Living in Brooklyn and working in Manhattan in the late 1960's, Dad had fallen in love with German wines; he wound up leaving banking, packing up his wife and two children and moving us to the Jersey shore to open the state's first fine wine and cheese shop. Another sister was born later, and the Murray family began a lifelong commitment to being a top notch wine merchant. But back to the story of Vollrads, our friends would ask, 'Why is your dog named Bullrod?' :) Anyway, he was a fine dog indeed, a true protector, and a real classic, just like this wine.
