Notre Dame de Cousignac Côtes du Rhône Nature d'Ardeche 2009
|
Made by 7th generation winemaker Raphael Pommier, this organic offering is a classic Cotes du Rhone. The Pommier family has made wine since 1780 and owns vineyards directly across from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This is made of 70% Grenache with 30% Syrah and Counoise, and we found aromas and flavors of cherries, blackberries, licorice and spices. Grilled meats, lamb or beef burgers, spicy pasta dishes or cheeses, pâté, olives and rosemary flatbreads will make a fine match here.
The chapel of Notre Dame de Cousignac was built in the 7th century and lies in the midst of the vineyards. The Pommier family, the current owners, bought the property in the Napoleonic era and cultivated wines and silk. This estate has been organic for over 25 years...
