Mitolo G.A.M. Shiraz 2005
In a short period of time Mitolo has become recognized as one of the finest producers in McLaren Vale. With brilliant young winemaker Ben Glaetzer, Frank and Simone produce individual, hand-crafted wines built on passion and an uncompromising commitment to quality. Mitolo's philosophy has always been to focus on the vineyard, ensuring that the grapes are picked on flavor ripeness and that the right balance of aromas and structure are achieved. The 2005 vintage has been touted as the best since the historic 1998, and winemakers all over Australia have called it the best vintage they have ever made. Parker raves : "For a winery only established in 1999 and dedicated to hand crafted artisinal wines, Mitolo has consistently been a revolution in my tastings."
Wine Advocate
Fashioned from a McLaren Vale vineyard, the 2005 Shiraz G.A.M. (named after the Mitolo children – Gemma, Alexander, and Marco) is a deep ruby/purple-hued effort displaying beautiful blackberry, white pepper, licorice, and toasty oak notes. Rich, full-bodied, and intense, with blueberry and blackberry flavors, sweet tannin, and excellent purity, it is a tour de force in winemaking. Enjoy it over the next decade.

Wine Enthusiast
Winemaker Ben Glaetzer has crafted yet another excellent wine for the Mitolo family, and even though the Reiver Shiraz seems a touch better this vintage, the G.A.M. is no slouch. Its bouquet of vanilla, spice and plum pudding even smells rich, and that’s followed by a medium- to full-bodied wine with a creamy texture and authoritative fruit flavors. Shows a touch of warmth on the finish, but also spice notes and some dusty tannins. Drink 2008–2015.
