Marquis Philips Shiraz 2008

The Wine Advocate raves: 'Marquis Philips is the most exciting wine project to emerge from Australia, and perhaps the New World. They have established a six year track record of big bang for the buck. Run, don't walk to a client of the Grateful Palate and secure as much as you can of these wines!' Marquis Philips is an American-Australian collaboration, a joint project of owner Dan Philips of The Grateful Palate and winemaker Chris Ringland. The grapes for Marquis Philips red wines come largely from the fine region of McLaren Vale. The Marquis Philips Shiraz has deep, intense blue and black fruit flavors with wonderfully gamey complexities which will make serving this at a BBQ a no-brainer.
Wine Advocate
The 2008 Shiraz offers up aromas of cigar box, damp earth, smoked meat, bacon, and blueberry. Packed with flavor on the palate, it is full-bodied, round, and altogether pleasure-bent. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.
Score: 91.
