Hundred Acre ARK Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
|
Ark Vineyard 2005 is the first release from Jayson Woodbridge's home vineyard, which features nine separate blocks of vines and six clones, and which was picked in multiple passes and fermented in 500-liter puncheons. He made a scant 700 cases in his dedication to producing small lots. The 2005 is made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from his estate vineyard in Napa Valley.
Wine Advocate
The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark is gorgeously rich, with a deep ruby/purple color and creme de cassis aromas intermixed with some graphite, licorice, espresso, and spice. An opulent, fleshy wine with more noticeable tannic structure and earthiness, this wine will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age, and drink well for two decades.
Score: 94-96.

Wine Spectator
Graceful, ripe and fleshy, with supple plum, blackberry, black cherry and wild berry fruit that reminds me of a berry pie. Unfolds to reveal subtle spicy, cedary oak flavors, and the finish is long and luxurious, with layers of berry flavors. Best from 2010 through 2017.
Score: 93.
