Donnhoff Schlossbockelheimer Felsenberg Riesling Auslese 2005

We tasted and adored this little half bottle of Auslese from a top estate in Nahe, Germany. Flowers, spices and yellow fruits leap from the glass and a zippy minerality keeps the mouth fresh and delightful to drink. I have had a harder time in recent years drinking dessert wines even though I love them, but this was so refreshing and not heavy, that it was easier for me to enjoy. It was a perfect alternative to a sweeter TBA or Sauternes that may have been too heavy for me. Try with flavorful cheeses, nuts and dried fruits, i.e. apricots after dinner or as a starter with Duck Foie Gras.
Wine Spectator
A beautiful auslese, well-defined and complex. Everything is in the right place as the apricot, Golden Delicious apple, spice and mineral flavors unfold on the seamless profile. The finish is long and tasty. Drink now through 2028. 153 cases imported. –BS
