Domaine Paul Autard Châteauneuf du Pape 2005
From a great Rhône vintage, this small domaine is making beautiful wines that seem to straddle the style of Old World and New World, making for many happy palates! We found creme de mure, black cherries and licorice in its expressive nose and dense mouth. The tannins are big, so patient consumers will be rewarded. Drink 2007-2017.
Wine Spectator
There's nice drive to the cassis, blackberry and graphite flavors, with solid underlying notes of i garrigue n and tobacco. The structure is solid, but this is well-rounded for drinking now. Drink now through 2015.
Score: 91.

Wine Advocate
The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape has turned out to be a beauty. Dark ruby/purple to the rim, with a flamboyant black currant, sweet cherry, floral, licorice, and spicy nose, the wine is deep, full-bodied, with supple tannins and long, heady glycerin and extract in the supple finish. This is a surprisingly approachable 2005 that already drinks well but should continue to evolve for 10-15+ years.
Score: 90.
