This is made by the man who many in the wine industry consider to be the most influential person in Bordeaux. Christian Moueix's extensive worldwide travel has educated and promoted Bordeaux as a region (to some the greatest wine region in the world), as well as his famous family estates. Moueix managed Chateau Petrus for 38 years; in 2008 he handed the daily management over to his brother Jean-Francois. Currently Trotanoy, La Fleur Petrus and Providence are his focus in Pomerol as well as wines from his own line named Christian Moueix. He also has an interest in Dominus in Napa Valley, which is also in the upper echelon of quality for California. While Thomas was in Bordeaux tasting 2009 barrel samples with Christian, he had the opportunity to try this incredible bargain from 2006 out of bottle and placed an order on the spot.
Bottle Shop
With its tell-tale floral and berry aromas, this Pomerol represents a classic, medium-bodied rendition of the appellation at an incredible price. Red and black fruits, mocha and violets abound, especially after 20-30 minutes of aeration. We suggest sauteed lamb chops, steaks or roasted pork loin to accompany this delicious Bordeaux, or after dinner with fine French cheeses.
Score: 92.
Wine Spectator
Pretty chocolate and berry character on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, with soft, round tannins, very pretty fruit and a medium finish. A very friendly young Pomerol. Best after 2009.
Score: 88.
