Owned by the talented Christian Moeuix, La Providence is superbly situated next to La Fleur Petrus, Hosanna and Trotanoy. Planted to 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the small 10 acre vineyard was once part of Chateau Tropchaud, one of Pomerol's oldest vineyards. Christian Moeuix eliminated the use of herbicides and pesticides when he acquired La Providence (as in all of his vineyards) so he could farm organically, and he also constructed a cellar on the property. When Thomas visited Bordeaux in the Spring of 2010, he tasted this 2009 out of barrel with Christian Moueix and was wildly impressed with Christian's 5th release from the estate calling it the best ever made at this estate. Between 1000-1250 cases are generally produced in each vintage.
Wine Advocate
Ths 100% Merlot cuvee from Christian Moueix is an atypically masculine, full-bodied, muscular wine for Moueix. This opaque blue/purple wine displays notes of black cherries, truffles, damp earth and licorice. Full-bodied, very deep and powerful, it will need of 6-8 years of cellaring but should keep for 25-30 years. It has the potential to be the best Providence to date.

Wine Spectator
Captivating, with Lapsang souchong tea and incense flavors up front, followed by creamy-textured plum and fig sauce, blackberry preserve and ganache notes, which sail through the long, smoky and creamy finish. Best from 2013 through 2030. 1,400 cases made.
