Casa Lapostolle Clos Apalta 2005
Only 3200 cases imported into the USA, this beauty is a superstar of Chile. Casa Lapostolle was founded by the Marnier Lapostolle family from France and the Rabat family from Chile in 1994, through Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, her husband Cyril de Bournet and Don José Rabat Gorchs. Today, Casa Lapostolle is 100% owned by the Marnier-Lapostolle group. The Marnier Lapostolle family, founders and owners of the world-renowned liqueur Grand Marnier, are known for producing spirits and liqueurs, but the family has been also involved in winemaking for generations. Originally winegrowers in the Loire Valley, the Marnier Lapostolle continue this vintner tradition today as owners of Chateau de Sancerre.
Wine Spectator
Gorgeous aromas of warm chocolate ganache and mocha lead the way for a rich, velvety palate loaded with currant, fig paste, black licorice, cassis bush and bramble notes. The long, juicy finish has great grip and density, with echoes of graphite, dark fruit and minerality. This should really reward cellaring. Carmenère, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot (the first vintage to include Petit Verdot). Best from 2009 through 2019.
