Alamos Malbec 2007

BN#234737 |
Bodega Catena Zapata began to make Alamos in 1993 as a second label to Catena. Alamos is sourced from some of the Catena family's younger vineyards in the best areas of Mendoza's high altitude wine country. Yields are kept low and all of the vineyards are hand harvested. The nose of this Malbec offers bright black cherry, floral and toasty aromas. The mouthfeel is full and rich, with ripe, concentrated cassis and black raspberry fruit flavors interwoven with a touch of chocolate and sweet spice from light oak aging.
Wine Spectator
Round and fleshy, with enticing spice, blueberry, fig and boysenberry flavors backed by hints of fruitcake and melted licorice. Stays fresh and vivid on the finish, with a lingering mocha hint. Drink now through 2009. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.
Score: 90.
