The Bottle Shop wine store in Spring Lake, New Jersey, is owned by the Murray family, who have been wine merchants in Monmouth County since 1972. Tom and Marie Murray converted a small liquor store on the Jersey Shore into a vintage wine, cheese and gourmet food shop; an endeavor reported in the New York Times in the summer of 1974. Today, their three children are continuing the tradition...
Thomas F. Murray III has taken over the role of President, after being mentored for many years by his father. The two travelled extensively in France, especially in the Bordeaux region, which gave Thomas a deep knowledge and understanding of the Bordeaux trade, as well as securing important contacts for receiving the best allocations of collectible vintages. He oversees all aspects of the Bottle Shop.
Cynthia A. Murray is Vice-President of Marketing, with an emphasis on the development of the website and advertising. She worked in the Mid-Atlantic region for fine wine importer Dreyfus, Ashby & Company, as well as in New York City for Frederick Wildman & Sons. Her passion for food and wine was developed in the finest restaurants of those regions and abroad.
Marisa Murray Amadio is Vice-President of Finance. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Accounting, she joined the family business and learned how to successfully manage a growing family business. Her husband Kevin Amadio, is a wine and beer specialist who has worked at the Bottle Shop for 10 years, and focuses his energies on shipping, floor management and receiving.
When the Murrays' launched their website, bottleshop.com, they entered a new era. This 'family wine merchant' grew into a nationally competitive fine wine store, with shipments to 41 states, including daily shipments to NY, California, Florida, Texas, NJ, the Northwest and more. By offering attentive, friendly service, coupled with top notch wine knowledge, and savvy buying skills, the Bottle Shop has become a special source for many wine lovers and serious collectors. The cellar contains the most collectible wines in the world, with countless small production, sought-after wines and hundreds of highly rated offerings. The large inventory of these collectible wines also complement the extensive selection of interesting, everyday drinking wines that Thomas and Cynthia personally taste to find the best in the world.
