Wine Spectator
Refined and beautiful. Really gorgeous aromas of blackberries, minerals and flowers. Full-bodied, with firm, silky tannins and a long, long finish. Not the perfect 100-point 1997, but seriously outstanding. Best after 2005. 330 cases made. (JS)
Score: 94.

Wine Advocate
Dense, masculine, and muscular, the 1998 Barolo Brunate displays abundant quantities of blackberry and cherry liqueur aromas intertwined with vanilla, licorice, tobacco, and rose petals. The new oak is brilliantly absorbed by this medium to full-bodied, sweet, expansively-flavored Barolo. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2016.
Score: 91-92.
