Mitolo Jester Shiraz 2006
In a short period of time Mitolo has become recognized as one of the finest producers in McLaren Vale. With brilliant young winemaker Ben Glaetzer, Frank and Simone produce individual, hand-crafted wines built on passion and an uncompromising commitment to quality. Mitolo's philosophy has always been to focus on the vineyard, ensuring that the grapes are picked on flavor ripeness and that the right balance of aromas and structure are achieved.
Wine Advocate
The Shiraz lineup begins with 2006 Shiraz “Jester” which was aged for 12 months in French and American oak. Like the Cabernet, 20% dried grapes were included in the blend. Purple-colored, it offers up an expressive nose of cedar, spice box, smoke, pepper, and blueberry. Medium to full-bodied and supple-textured, the wine has a forward personality with layers of spicy fruit and some elegance. It is for drinking over the next 10 years. It is an outstanding value.
