Louis Jadot Pernand Vergelesses Clos de la Croix de Pierre 2005

We tasted and adored this Premier Cru red. We found red fruits, roses and mint in the nose. In the mouth, it has more of the same with good muscle and richness; in fact, we tasted it blind at a Louis Jadot 2005 sit-down tasting and thought it may be Gevrey Chambertin! Great Value. Drink 2007-2015.
Burghound
Subtle oak toast sets off unusually ripe aromas for this appellation and rather than the usual red pinot fruit, in '05 the nose runs more toward dark and even black fruit. The rich, full and delicious flavors though retain the classic sense of freshness and vibrancy plus a firm minerality on the penetrating finish. This is a lovely and altogether serious effort if distinctly riper than it usually is. Worth a look. 88-91
Score: 91.
