Well-balanced, rich and intense with concentrated currant, black cherry, elegant earth, herb and cedary oak notes. While richly tannic, this has a seam of elegance and grace that makes it smooth on the palate. Mondavi blends 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, 2% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot with the Cabernet Sauvignon. Perfect with Filet Mignon and baked Potato!

Currant, tobacco and smoke on the nose, complicated by licorice, mint and fresh herbs. Supple, moderately ripe flavors of currant, tobacco leaf and black olive; nicely open-knit, sweet wine that should offer considerable early appeal. Finishes with broad, dusty, slightly drying tannins. When I mentioned black olive to winemaker Janssens, she said that to Mondavi that's a sign that the wine is not jammy.
