Bodega Numanthia Termes 2005
This powerful red is made of 100% Tinta de Toro grapes from 30+ year old ungrafted vines. Termes receives malolactic fermentation in barrel and is aged for 14-16 months in one-year-old French barriques. Termes represents Numanthia's desire to showcase the historical wine reputation of the Toro region. Throughout the Middle Ages, the wines of Toro were coveted by the kings of Spain and their praises sung in Spanish poetry. The sandy soils of the Toro region inhibited the growth of Phylloxera that devastated so many wine regions in the world, so Toro is a hot bed of old vine vineyards producing world class wines.
Wine Advocate
The 2005 Termes was aged for 16 months in seasoned French oak. It exhibits a classy nose of cedar, mineral, spice box, and blackberry. Sweet, layered, and ripe, with tons of flavor, this balanced effort will evolve for 3-4 years and drink well through 2018.

Wine Enthusiast
Fine oak, mineral, natural heat and power are all part of the sexy nose. Primary black cherry and plum flavors are warmed up by mild oaky char, but the barrels that enveloped the wine for 16 months were once-used so there isn’t much overt vanilla or woodspice. Smooth across the palate and structured on the finish. Nothing is out of place; drink now through 2012.
