Enzo Tiezzi Brunello di Montalcino 2001
 |
|
BN#174670 |
Only 800 cases total of Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino are produced each year at this small estate, which began bottling in 1989. Since that time, extensive renovations and improvements have taken place, including increasing the size of the estate to a total of 12 hectares. Enzo Tiezzi makes his wines in the traditional way, with longer macerations and without new oak, resulting in a style displaying a distinctly pure, ripe and silky Sangiovese.
Wine Advocate
The estate's 2001 Brunello di Montalcino is a big, powerful wine. It shows a densely packed core of backward sweet fruit with licorice, underbrush and tar nuances that develop in the glass. This masculine, authoritative wine will require a few years in the cellar and should drink well to age 20. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2021.
Score: 90.
